Over half a century of film culture<\/h3>\n

The Montaasi film club is a student organization for everyone interested in watching, making and learning about films, operating in connection with the Aalto University Student Union (AYY). We are an active association that organizes filmmaking courses, excursions to film festivals, film screenings and more! We also offer our members guidance, contacts, and equipment to make their own films.<\/p>\n

Montaasi was founded in 1957. Over the years, the club has influenced Finnish film culture as a creator, documenter and commentator. Montaasi's rich history includes the birth of Finnish amateur cinema, the golden age of film clubs in the 1960s\u20131980s, and the upheavals brought about by the punk movement, video technology, and the internet.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/article>\n

An active film club<\/h3>\n

From the beginning, Montaasi's core values have been self-production and self-expression through film. We have launched the career of many of our members, who have since become professionals in the film and audiovisual industry, the most famous of whom is film director Risto Jarva, who was one of Montaasi's founding members.<\/p>\n

Montaasi has made hundreds of films over the years, covering a wide range of styles, from abstract reflection to unapologetic anarchism. The films have captured a number of significant phenomena and prevailing stylistic trends from different eras.
